For Larry Kramer 1935-2020 Poem by LeeAnn Azzopardi

For Larry Kramer 1935-2020

Rating: 5.0

It's too hot to even think of death
And it's sad to say good-bye
With the light of the sun so shining brightly
The clouds hurry to cover it with blackness of rain
Like tears of the g-ds over yr grave
We cannot remember a man as angry as you
My memories of epidemic are still raw
Especially with the death of so many
As government couldn't even whisper its name
Oh Yeah! It's now a chronic disease
But back then, it was a death sentence
You fought a good and noble fight
Now, it's time to see paradise
Larry, we will continue the fight
Until we stop it for good

" Especially with the death of so many As government couldn't even whisper its name Oh Yeah! It's now a chronic disease..." I smell the indication of the horrible covid-19 from the poem. Very deeply written. The idea of epidemic is well denoted. Nobody ever could have won the death. Some go early afes and some after maturity. Thanks for sharing.

Must admit I have never read any of Kramers works, I only know of him from a historical perspective, he was a champion for the rights of his community, he was loud when others were silent, that's what makes him a great man. I never saw the AIDS crisis at the time, but it was an atrocity of human spectacle. Wonderful tribute LeeAnn, you help make the man immortal.
