Forest Song Poem by Huseyin Abudharr Ali Diakides

Forest Song

The music of the forest
Awakens a longing in my DNA,
The sounds of an ancient song,
A symphony of such life begins to play.

A solo by the crickets
Chirping an endless melody,
As the song comes alive
With a burst of energy.

The parakeet plays his solo,
As it echoes through the trees,
Such confidence and skill,
It sings a song of being free.

And then the drop hits
The woodpecker drums a beat,
The hypnotic rhythm of the forest
Has begun to speak.

The winds start to enter
And play the tree branches like they're strings,
A melody of such longing
In an orchestra of violins.

The bumblebee begins a buzzing
It's song a trumpet starts to play
And in these ancient woodlands
I feel myself be whisked away.

To this beautiful forest sound
My heart begins to beat in time,
My soul is now relaxed
And my brain begins to conjure rhymes.
