Forgot That I Fooled Myself Poem by Christopher's Dead

Forgot That I Fooled Myself

Rating: 5.0

Maggots come creeping out of their holes,
You're an innocent bystander, their needs are bold.
They don't smell you fear, it's your soul they're after,
Please stay away from me, please take shelter.
All sharp gripping teeth that belong to my words,
Miniscule and white, drenched in your blood.
Excuses made possible by grant given sin,
I would lock up your body and never let me in.

Distance yourself from the edge of the wall,
My beams are too far apart, you will fall.
It's quite a soft landing, most of the time,
Except when I feel I must open my mind.
The maggots are back, they wish to feed,
Love tastes so sweet, when all I sell is greed.
Not a poison apple, but a tanker and a match,
You'll provide the fuel, not prepared for my crash.

The first I let loose should've been the last,
Convinced of the truth you and me.
I fool myself once, a thousand times more,
Throwing out your felicity.
Yes the flight is confirmed, enjoy your stay,
In believing, this caused you to lose.
'Cause the minute I tell myself that I don't care,
You know that I really do.
