Forty Quatrains On Rainy Season [13 - 16] Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

Forty Quatrains On Rainy Season [13 - 16]

13.O, woman with beautiful base belly! Rain showers
like our great hero's fair hair. Streaks of lightning
flash across the clouds in the sky like the king's sword
severs an elephant. These are the signs for our hero's return.

14.O, you heroine wearing shining jewels! Your lover will come soon
with earnings for the livelihood. The Jasmine buds are seen
in the season of drizzle. The rainy season smiles at us
naturally with the buds of Jasmine.

15.O, you woman with distinct elegant jewels! The clusters
of Kuruntham tree's buds take shelter in you. When the elegant
farm beetles, Ili sing, the black dragonflies sound like the flute.
These signal the arrival of the rainy season and of our hero soon.

16.O, you with big shoulders! To remove the paleness
of your Asoka's shoots like body, to make the black cuckoos feel
the pain in faintness, and the peacocks to dance in joy,
the bright clouds roar aloud. So our hero will come soon.
