Quiet and Casual Thoughts
- Francis Tse
- Translated by Frank Yue
I listened to the cicadas leisurely,
And thought to myself quietly -
Spring and Autumn, and they're gone,
Everything then moves on...
There's a time for the seasons,
And everything happens for a reason.
How can I forget ever,
On the sea of love
My precious connections were sever'd?
On the lakes and rivers wide I roamed proudly,
Don't laugh at me
And take me as a person silly.
Half of my life I've toiled,
I'm enjoying the fruits of my labour finally
At ease and in peace.
All the achievements, fame and money -
All these may be cast aside.
Only a simple lifestyle with enlightenment
Is now mine, so fine,
So mellow, just like poetry!

靜聽蝉鳴暗自思,
春秋有序合時宜。
難忘愛海遭情困,
傲視江湖莫笑痴。
半世辛劳終有報,
餘生樂享定無疑。
功名利祿何須記,
恬淡情懷堪似詩。
