We both were hanging by a thread
Yours way more tenuous than mine
But we remained tethered together
Through roaring, angry winds
And distant wind chimes
When Self beckoned you
Your angry eyes were vacant
Unrecognizing of my glow or goodness
As you wriggled free of the tie between us
Allowing my line to snap and crash toward the earth
My goodness prevailed as
A newfound parachute of love and hope
Protected and guided me
Gently setting me down in a fragrant field
My golden locks tended to by butterflies
No longer a color in my rainbow
Your black snuck off into the night the way
A cowardly thief shuffles down an alley
As yellows, blues and reds, the hues
That truly mattered, forever embraced my heart
During my journey, my heart was light and floating
And while falling as if in slow motion
Angels held a mirror up to my cheeks
Lovingly allowing me to glimpse
All that was my value to you
Thankfully the looking glass had no vision
Symbolic of so many things
A crystal clear message now a welcome sight
That the world was my own
And I was at last
