Friend To Friend Poem by Holly Jamestone

Friend To Friend

In a friend's presence, may we be like a snowman
Whose hat's darkened brim shields our eyes
From things we are better off not viewing
As we stand still and calm, the sun to our backs
Our shape ever redefined while we meld into one
Friend To Friend

When in the moonlight, we silently dance in sparkling delight
Alternating between night and day, sunny and gray days
Well-meaning passersby and visitors protecting us
Patting us in delight, attempting to prop us up
When our snow vest dwindles, our button nose sags
Friend To Friend

Playful pals photograph us or embrace our cold shoulders
Reassuringly straightening our neck scarves
Resecuring our melting, tearing-up eyes so
We may better see our surroundings
As they loyally stand within view even on crooked smile days
Friend To Friend
