Freedom Of Speech Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Freedom Of Speech

Freedom of speech is held in great esteem.
It is a freedom that is not meant to demean.
Think before you speak; take responsibility.
Thoughtless words that degrade cause hostility.

Freedom of speech is not a right; it is a privilege.
Maybe it is time to reevaluated and make a pledge.
Make a promise to yourself…something to remember.
Treat people of the human race as a family member.

Raise the bar for appropriateness and dignity…
Rather than spewing disgust on a ranting spree.
You may learn the consequences of your freedom…
When the words ricochet back and call you scum.
