Freedom They Brought Poem by Neela Nath Das

Freedom They Brought

Rating: 5.0

They broke the shackles
They broke the chain.
They set us free
And healed our pain.
The rulers have been changed
Condition remains the same,
We dreamed of freedom
They played a game.
We forgot the fighters,
and their sacrifice.
Present rulers taught,
how to perform vice.
Hungry and homeless
Don't know what's life,
They suffer naked freedom,
Sorrows and strife!
Freedom they brought in
Exchange of lives,
Has made that land
Where poverty thrives.

Yes conditions remain same although rules change frequently. Bringing freedom in exchange of lives brings poverty. Very wonderful and thought provoking poem shared really....10
