From 4 To 2 - Poem by Benjamin Goudberg

Most people do not know what to say when I relate the story of my life.
Perhaps its that they do not realize one person can endure so much
More than anything they are in shock that I am still standing
But what is most upsetting is the phrase, 'I know its hard'

Truth is, they have no idea in the world
There is no counseling for what I have been through
I am alone in my experiences and not a single person comes close
Well maybe one other - my father

He and I face the world each day - unsure about what to do
How does one walk out the door with a smile on their face
After having dealt with pain that we feel everyday
No one can imagine the amount of hardship

My mother taken by Cancer when I was 13
My brother taken by a Car Accident 8 months later - I was 14
My stepmother taken by Cancer when I was 18

You cannot feel what I do
You cannot see what I see
You do not cry yourself to sleep as I do

This is my lonely path to walk
But I will not give up.

While I'm certain none would wish to feel or see as you have, this is the hand that life has dealt and you play that damn hand until everyone has shown their cards.

There ain't no folding in this game.
