From Dwelling To Future Poem by Ellen Ni Bheachain

From Dwelling To Future

To go back and return is easy to say,
It is easy to go back and notice what's left,
Yet what was there first to what is there now,
It will be different in all aspects since you went away,

Nothing stands still so expect the change,
Yet in your mind's eye, you still envision it the same,
If you choose to go back,
It is there that you'll find,
Life goes on with or without you,

Is your past affecting your future?
Which prevents you from moving on?
People, places change it is understood,
Dwelling is your mind dwelling in the past,
Thinking constantly of the past will leave you there,
Dwelling in the past,
Where nothing ever changes,
Not you or your mindset,

Dwelling in the past takes away from your future,
Try moving on and leave the past in the past,
When you move and go forward with your present and future,
It will allow you to learn from your past,
Whether it was good or bad,
To open your path to building a better brighter future,

When you learn from your past,
You can build on your future,
Staying in the present and not losing out on opportunities,
To build and regroup and start again, if need be,
With a brighter future looking forward and not back.
Taking you out of the dwelling and into the present and future.
Where you pave your path,
Because you are your own destiny.
