Front 'and'...Back Doors Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Front 'and'...Back Doors

Is it what you then knew,
That today bothers you the most.
To view.
On the TV news.
Or is it your belief,
What it was you knew...
Would only affect the lives of others.
And your choice was to choose,
To ignore it.
Like many did to do.

Now...
Today?
With reality updates to face.
Too close to your front and back doors,
Sits...
What you chose before to ignore.
And now you choose to protest against,
That which others...
Had stated for decades,
To have had no defense to protect against.

Good luck with your protests.
Good luck with your attempts to find,
Empathy expressed with sincerity.
And good luck with your kept beliefs,
The leaders you elected...
Represent your interests as a priority.
To not have their own.
And not a one to include you.

"This is appalling and outrageous.
This is a blatant show of neglect.
We are different than..."

-Who?
Them, they and those others?
Welcome to the real World.-

"But...
We pay taxes.
We work and deserve to be heard.
We are citizens and entitled to rights."

-And...
Them, they and those others,
Who work, pay taxes and are citizens too.
Deserving to be heard.
Although different than you.
Are entitled...
To what? -
