Fun With Phenomenal Woman Poem by Suzanne Hayasaki

Fun With Phenomenal Woman

Rating: 5.0

Skinny women wonder what my secret is.
They ask me where my beauty hides.
They look at me with eyes which are trained to see
Each flaw, each pound, each inch
Where it is not supposed to be.

I tell them that when men see me
They see the curves of a cello
The slide of a bass
The glide of a goddess
The lines on my face.

In streets filled with drumsticks and piccolos,
Stuttering along in stilettos,
Chatting in treble, laughing in shrieks,
I bounce along like a bass line
Riding the waves of my own time.

Yes, you are young.
You are pretty.
You are smart.
But I am wise.
I hold history inside me.
I accept the mystery life and death.
I embrace my aging.
I know my beauty grows.

I am content with myself.
This makes my company inviting
My conversation enlightening
My friendship a blessing.

I smile.
I listen.
I laugh.

Nothing is more attractive than that!

You have found a couple of poems where I mashed together a popular song and one of my favorite poems. This one is Phenomenal Woman / It's All About the Base by Meghan Trainor. The Dessert Sonnet is Shakespeare meets A Horse with No Name by America. One more is She Walks in Fire, which is Byron's She Walks in Beauty meets Girl from Ipanema.
