One soul witnessed the tears of Indians all;
He saw how Indians all had been enslaved;
His time and life for us, He sacrificed;
He got us freedom through his actions, words.
The Atma prayed to Paramatma well;
He saw the plight of Indian brothers all;
He aimed to free the nation from aliens;
His words could stop the bullets and hangings.
Half-clad, he fasted, led a simple life;
A barrister, he fought in courts with art;
His wife suffered with him in his struggle;
The Atma turned Mahatma in the end!
He freed the country from the British rule;
His anguished heart had bled for Indians all;
This patriot won Indian hearts and minds;
He breathed his last as we breathed freedom's air!

A nice tribute to the father of the nation and a great soul.10++++
One soul witnessed the tears of Indians all and He was Gandhi Ji. He sacrificed for nation. Today our country is paying beautiful homage to our father of nation. He freed the country from the British rule and his sacrifice is remembered. You have penned an excellent tribute poem.10

How an atma turned to mahatma, yes indeed, in one life time he evolved so much, which, we ordinary souls take so many lifetimes. He was an ordinary man to begin with, something pushed him on to the fast lane, may be his own will. A right path on which an atman progresses to become param atman. Thanks for sharing dear poet AC Raj Manohar.
