Gassed Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Gassed

Poison gas was used by Germany and the allies in First
World. Started by the French, fatal for three cent of
soldiers gassed, ex-soldiers suffered serious ill-effects for
the rest of their lives

Soldiers in trenches
Hear cry ‘Gas coming'
Fearfully pulling on gas masks
Billowing yellow green cloud
Sweeping in from no-man's land
Flooding trenches.

Gassed, burning throats
Eyes, acute agony, going blind,
Lungs afire, struggling for breath
Fluid building with risk of drowning.
