Gathering At Thanksgiving Poem by Tracey Owens

Gathering At Thanksgiving

Rating: 5.0

The Family gathers around
To enjoy the feast.
The children are screaming,
But the noise doesn't bother anyone.
Everyone is talking about old memories
And looking beyond to the future.
The candles are lit
And sitting on the shelf.
The air is warm and
The atmosphere is gentle.
The table is set and soon
everyone begins to
Surround the dinner table.
The moment is important
And will be remembered for
The years to come.
I step back and see my
Surroundings for a second.
Everyone is happy and smiling.
The pain of the year is erased
With the joy of having the
Family for Thanksgiving.
The journey it took
For us to get where
We are was a long
Process and won't
Be forgotton easily.
I step back and
Appreciate what I
Have to be thankful
For and it makes me smile.
I am blessed to have a family.
I am thankful to have a family.
