Generate Light Poem by Richard Jarboe

Generate Light

When you're down and out,
When sights you see don't look right,
Darkness ain't no dennison,
Generate light from within.

When your body fails you,
When you're feeling old and gray,
Out of nowhere comes inner-might,
Generate light from within.

Close your eyes, you'll see the light,
Not from the sun, but from you,
A radiance of pure delight,
All about what's true.

It's only natural to be fearful,
Only natural feeling sad,
Tough times make the tough guys,
Angels can be devils in disguise.

Generate light from within.

This light don't come from no kerosine,
This light don't come from no coal,
This light is rooted deep inside you,
Blooming bouquets of the soul.

Generate light from within.

This light is the gift of life,
Pouring from muscle to vein,
The radiance of this light,
Is time immortal and will always remain.

Generate light from within.

Wipe away your tears,
Take a deep breath,
Fear not your birth,
And fear not your death.

Generate light from within.

At the altar there are secrets,
At the altar where we stand,
There amongst the riddles,
There's the gift of the promised land.
