Generational Thoughtlessness Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Generational Thoughtlessness

A persistent and generational,
Thoughtlessness.
With a prioritizing...
Selfish greed to feed and kept.
Has its long lasting effects,
On a quality of life...
Demanded by all to get.
Will begin to eventually,
Reflect upon a society...
Of people living to believe,
Their entitlements to receive...
Has nothing to do that affects,
The diminishing of respect.
An absence of discipline.
Or dishonesty to deceive.

Yet...
Pretensions to keep and sell,
Will continue to do well.
As long as impressions made,
To stay that way to address...
Without consciousness,
And the disappearance...
Of common sense long gone.
Will benefit generations,
Yet to come.
And...
Will be taught to teach,
To those unsuspecting...
That ignorance and stupidity,
Are talents and gifts.
They have been blessed to get.
With a displaying,
Of these qualities.
As if...
Achieving to accomplish them,
Determines and identifies...
Who amongst them lives,
A successful life to obtain!
With a maintaining to practice
This effort to endeavor,
Day in and night out.
From dawn until the Sun sets.
Done with approval.
And expected acceptance!
