Gentildonna. (Translation) . Poem by Michael Walker

Gentildonna. (Translation) .

-' Gentildonna'. Ezra Pound.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Read the English poem on Poem Hunter/ Ezra Pound/ 82/250.
The poem is just four lines, with some overflow of the second verse. A mysterious lady, who has a strong presence, has just passed by, 'and left no quiver in the veins'. They fan the grass she walked on and this endures. The poet sees 'grey olive leaves' and it is a cold and rainy day. Although slightly obscure, the poem has a strange power and asks questions of the reader.
