Get Over It - Poem by Bailey Logan

I broke up with you
three months ago
last monday

but yet you say
that you still love me
and you continue to make me pay

and because I thought you deserved
the time to mourn
our terrible split

I told you to take your time
and for just a short while,
act as you saw fit

you told me all my flaws
you made me feel guilt
and remorse for what I did

you insulted me
annoyed me
and could not keep on your lid

I let it go
for quite a while
I tried letting you take your time

but you got worse
and you made me feel bad
like I was worth less than a dime

but now it's gone on
for way too long
it's quite a shame

you try to make me feel
like the only bad guy
like I'm the only one to blame

but it's not the truth
and now its time
you finally figure out

our break up was
a two-way street
that you should know about

you told me
that you loved me
before I got the chance

to get to enjoy
your company
and get a sense of your romance

you told me
that you trusted me
and then you went and said

you can't do that
he's way too close
in another direction you should head

you annoyed me
and annoyed me
to my wit's extreme end

and then you'd want to
hold my hand
and wondered why I'd contend

you told me
how much
you truly cared for me

then tried telling me
about how uncaring
I seemed to you to be

I couldn't stand it any more
the arguments
and security I never felt

I couldn't stand your immaturity
and how you told me I was pretty
then pointed out the tightness of my belt

If I had waited longer
you would have been
even angrier at me

it was time
to say goodbye
but you just could not clearly see

so I've let you
take a whack at me
and let you take your time

but now its time
to stop this crap
and stop commiting this crime

you said you've tried looking
for that other fish
in the deep blue sea

but you just couldn't
find that one,
because you're still hung up on me

but you know my reasons
and the truth,
its time you be the better man

stop calling me
an ice queen
and insulting me as much as you can

it's time you finally
stop repeating
that same stupid soliloquy

and please oh please
let me move on
and just get over me
