Girls, The Choice Is Yours.. Poem by Veeraiyah Subbulakshmi

Girls, The Choice Is Yours..

What is wrong with us being born as the girls,
What is wrong with them having the equals,
They want a mother, wives and daughters,
To hide from the eyes of the strangers,
They cloth their female in black attires,
Covering the aurat of rotting flesh and hair,
What is wrong with these women's status,
Always under the spell of suspicious desires,
The internet exposes every other race's color,
Many have watched something that triggers,
Does this region really ban too much exposure,
Had those messengers taught the human to be wiser?

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

here in america we sometimes hear horrible stories of people, especially females, being punished for going against religious taboos, especially in Muslim societies. maybe in Hindu societies as well; i'm not sure. if i were a girl/woman, i would probably have some fears and not feel the choice was mine to safely make. : ( bri i read yesterday that Mr. Obama, in a speech he gave at an annual 'prayer' event (i guess in Washington, D.C., our national captial) , pointed out that in the past (at least) some christians have been guilty of horrible actions as well, against non-christians and against black people. unfortunately, if the history i was taught is true, he is correct, and he is right to remind christians of those events. bri :)

THE 'rotting flesh' part puzzles me. i had to look up aurat. Mrs. Obama would probably like this. :) bri thanks for sharing.
