Giving Upa Down To Unload Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Giving Upa Down To Unload

Giving up a down to unload.
On a back to let go.
Unstrapped to abandon,
Burdens to prove them showed.

Feeling free,
To breathe away nonsense.
Constantly.
Feeling free,
To skip alone to do it shown.
And...
Feeling free,
To leave behind doubts.
And negativity to knock about.
With people with their heads dropped.
As if to accept,
A life lived like this to expect it.

I want to walk among people with their heads up.
Not down.
Looking at the ground.
I want to walk among people with their heads up.
With a faith they know is found.
I want to walk among people with their heads up.
Not down.
With frowns.
I want to walk among people with their heads up!

I want to walk among people with their heads up.
Not down.
Looking at the ground.
I want to walk among people with their heads up.
With faith.
They have and found.
I want to walk among people with their heads up.
No down.
With frowns.

I want to walk among people with their heads up,
With pride.
And not an arrogance.
But pride.
Not an arrogance.
But pride!
To know the difference to know it earned.
To know the difference to know it earned.
To know the difference to know it earned!
