God Gave Me A Son Poem by Randy McClave

God Gave Me A Son

I will never know that one feeling
To jump rope instead of to run,
I guess that's my own pre-determined destiny
Because, God had given me a son.
He will wear his superhero underwear
And not a pink, dainty, laced gown,
He will always forget to put his toys away
But, he'll always remember to put the toilet seat down.

I will always enjoy going fishing with him
But, I think that tea parties might had been fun,
But, I will never know of that one pleasure
Because, God had given me a son.
He gave me a son to hold and to protect
And then to raise him to become a man,
And to be respectful, responsible and encouraging
Whatever that I can't do, he will and can.

I will never be able to give my child's hand away
When the raising of my boy is done,
Instead he, himself will take his wife's hand
Because, God had given me a son.
He will become a husband and maybe a father
And he will stay strong if his life becomes grim,
He will know that an embrace is not physical, but emotional
And in the end, it was I who needed him.
