Goodbye Poem by Shirley Hanley

Goodbye

Rating: 5.0

Here I stand
gazing at your lifeless body before me...

Tears running down...

Even though destiny chose me
to administer the fatal dose
that ended your life...

I know
it was the cancer
that killed you...

Goodbye Wezzer of the golden eyes
and tufted ears
my keeper of the food...

Soft and warm gift of God
I return you to your maker...

He who was kind enough
to share his love for me
through you...

I'll see you in Paradise
my beloved cat...

Oh how you blessed my soul...

I loved this poem. Mainly because in 1967 I worked for a veterinarian named Dr. Juan a Garcia in Lima Peru...I arrived in that country with an eight year old border collie from southern california and he was a dog then..Nobody in any mans eye in that country...I became alienated and my friend the same....I put hiim down with tears in my eyes. I will never forgive these people. John, still with the tears in my eyes....Don't worry..I got the love from corkey.
