Granted Poem by robin machorro

Granted

you sing something so sweet and innocent
but the look in your eyes, you can tell you think of yourself as an accident
letting the whispers of doubt bring you down
having the monster come in and show you how he thinks things are about
your new toxic ways destroy your once beautiful words
that had so much meaning behind them
'its okay' the monster claims 'more hits of me you'll be okay!
you wont need a single soul again none of that non sense!
stop saying you want someone to confinde in! '
you start to believe everyone is going to hurt you
getting everyone away from you
you know your becoming a monster too
but in a way your praying for a angel to come save you
and there she is so beautiful, you know she probably
made plenty of mistakes too, it doesnt matter how beautiful there are,
everyone is a fool
'look at you' she shakes her head, she expected more from you
'look around you, open your eyes! this place is precious
you only have one life! why waste it doubting and frowning?
son, your not the only one who feels pain! but i promise
you will be healed in the end
stop worring about what happens tomorrow, stop dwelling
on all your old sorrows, open your eyes and look beside you
you will be surprise what you will find'
this little speech has no meaning he thought shes just fooling me
open your eyes was on his mind and so he did, looks around
and in his shock he finds people, things that are worth living
instead of looking beside him he looked passed him
to doors that cant be open yet
instead of looking beside him he looked behind him
so he can doubt the ones who will want to walk in
never did he realize there are so many people who are there!
but its to late, the monster took his life away
'how can this happen so early? ! ' he screamed
'i now realize the things that make me still breath! '
everyone was right this life is worth the fight
stop being so blind and you will find the person who was there
through out all this time, find things that still make you shine
this life is precious why take it for granted?
