Greatest Of All Changes Made Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Greatest Of All Changes Made

Not even the privileged few,
Are immune from going through...
Abrupt to make permanent,
A thorough and difficult to do...
Changes done.
Unexpected to have them come.
Regardless who refused the warnings.

The signs and messages,
Sent had been everywhere to ignore.
Many choose to not pay attention.
Or listen.
As this greatest change of all,
Began to approach their shores.

Since the threat of it,
Had not been seen...
The seriousness of this change,
Was considered just another...
Temporary inconvenience,
To tolerate until it leaves.
No one suspected,
This change would create...
An upheaval to their 'normalcy'.

Well...
It has.
That 'normalcy' had,
Is gone.
No longer to return,
Back to business to enjoy.
This change will remain.
To annoy.
And seldom do abrupt changes made,
Come to anyone to enjoy them done.

Adopting to adapt.
And accepting truth,
With its facts to produce.
Shouting and screaming,
Or protesting against reality.
Will not do a thing.
But bring more pain and suffering.

Although...
Those accustomed,
To be among 'the have nots'.
And ignored by the ones,
With their noses up in the air.
Believing their 'normalcy',
Will again reappear...
To continue their 'normal' affairs.
Are not prepared at all,
For this change to remain.
Or budge to allow anyone with time,
To pass judgement or impress...
Kept pretensions to address.
From a past that has lost,
A significance to keep deluded.
