I found a box of gold today
in an old and secret draw.
I lifted off the ageing lid
and my eyes they sparkled more.
I looked over to my right hand side
then over to my left.
Just in-case someone saw me
and wanted their share at best.
I slipped in my pocket
and slinked away into the night
As no one was having my gold
I knew that was quite right.
I laid it on my jewelry scales
it weighed nearly one pound.
I hid it up my jumper
as I did not want it to be found.
Now I am not a secretive man
and surly not a thief
But when I held the gold at hand
I felt like it was deceit.
I had to get the gold away
as it was eating at my heart
But what on earth I was going to do
I couldent even start,
Just then a passing stranger
burst upon the scene.
And seeing my large lump of gold
he said it was unreal.
He took the gold lump from me
and as it left my shaking hand
I knew that this good stranger
would take it to the promised land.
He took it to a Jewelers
and with it a new life he'd start
But I was still a grieving
as the gold had broken my heart
