Guilt Poem by ANJANDEV ROY

Guilt

Rating: 5.0

This is the day of his superannuation,
The man has come to his office for the final day,
Everyone welcomes him heartily,
He looks sad, very sad
And naturally he should be.
The colleagues praise him effusively in their speech,
They offer him precious things and lovely bouquet on this occasion,
But the man knows in his heart what the truth is.
He has never done justice to the office chair,
He has never performed his duty honestly and sincerely in his service life;
The man has never realized this before,
But this time his conscience gives him a blow,
He looks at his famous chair
Where he used to sit so long,
As he stares at the chair,
He feels its hatred for him,
As if it bids him loathsome adieu.
Tears rain down from his eyes,
The sense of guilt engrosses his mind,
Slowly he leaves the place with the broken heart and vacant eyes.

He has never done justice to the office chair, He has never performed his duty honestly and sincerely in his service life; his conscience gives him a blow, ...the sense of guilt remains and it will become a burden...... very fine poem on guilt and its psyhological complications.. thank u dear poet. tony
