Guilt Of The Mind Poem by Francis Duggan

Guilt Of The Mind

Those who to speak the truth for some personal reason are quite uninclined
Condemn themselves to live with guilt of the mind
A guilt from them that will not go away
For as long as their hidden truth with them will stay
It is a guilt ridden mind that a secret does keep
So many because of this lose out on sleep
For our secrets of the mind always some price to pay
The guilt of a truth that is hidden a lifetime will stay
With those who feel their secret once out would bring on them shame
As well as putting a stain on their family's good name
But despite their guilt for to save their pride
Their secret from the World they does keep ahide
And though it may cost you your pride is how it seems to be
The truth from once spoken of guilt will set you free.
