Gunfight Declined Poem by Dorsey Baker

Gunfight Declined

a young boy walked out
into the street
determined to prove himself
he would have a gunfight
with the fastest gun in town
when the gunman he was to have to have the gunfight with
walked out into the street
hand on his gun ready to kill his foe
he saw the boy shaking like a leaf
reminded him of his only son he then
threw down his pistol
in the street and walked away
leaving the young boy
in tears of relief
as the gunfighter also
reminded him of his father
