Hail, Muse! Et Cetera

A prayer for inspiration
to the muse or Lord
was good luck at the start of a poem.

Having forgotten to earlier,
Byron prayed
at the start of Canto 3 of Don Juan.

'Hail, Muse! et cetera-' he expressed;
then straight-cut
to Juan's head on Haidee's breast;

a scene inspiring enough
to et cetera
all other musey stuff.

I can hear Byron saying,
'I'm completely undisturbed
by 'et cetera' being verbed.'
