Haiti Is Backstabbed And Betrayed Poem by Hebert Logerie

Haiti Is Backstabbed And Betrayed

In broad daylight, Haiti is betrayed
And backstabbed by her generals and own sons
Haiti is humiliated and lambasted
By her close allies, donors, folks and foes
Money, fame, and power
Dominate the news and the scene
Corrupt officials eagerly siphon
Everything that has values
Haiti is in a dire misfortune.

Haiti is vilified and beaten
By the henchmen who kill
Needlessly, for no reason
Stupidly, without compassion
Unscrupulously and shamelessly
It is a country where one-eyed monsters
Behave like imperious kings
The blind are exposed on the cross
Where crime and corruption
Incense the polluted air
And suffocate the poor cripples.

Amid the myths and blatant excuses
Amid mists, fleas, tricks and trashes
Haiti shall wake up one day
Haiti shall make a divine detour
The criminals making funny or ugly faces
Will be judged posthumously
Or in absentia, in the antechamber
Of hell, up and down, in the hullabaloo.

In broad daylight, Haiti is backstabbed, betrayed
And castigated by her sons, friends and foes.
