Hanging On So Far Poem by Belle Wassermeister

Hanging On So Far

Rating: ★5.0

My boyfriend thinks that I should sleep with him,
but I keep saying I don't think I should.
I am too young, and think it would be bad,
and he says no, it will be really good.

It is all right, he says, if we're in love,
each time he tries to get me into bed,
but I think of my Father up above,
and say it's just for those who have been wed.

He pouts so much, he's got me feeling blue.
Help me! What should I do? What should I do?

Continue fearing the Father above; Self-guarding as would a real dove, Your girl's innocence which snakes May bite and tear like stolen cakes.
