Happy Birthday, Mitch Poem by Randy McClave

Happy Birthday, Mitch

Happy birthday to my brother
And a happy birthday to my friend.
Happy birthday, I say with a tear
As this birthday wish to you. I send.
I remember as though it was yesterday
And I had sent you a birthday card,
Now it is that day once again
But, now there are no balloons in your yard.
I remember you having a birthday
And you drinking coffee while eating cake,
Then later for your birthday dinner
You had fish, or maybe it was a steak.
I will not light you any birthday candles
For you to wish upon and then blow out,
But, I will still sing you a birthday song
With my love without a doubt.
As I now look towards the heavens
My soul both enthralled and rich,
I still remember this very special day
As I shout out, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MITCH"!
