Happy Seventieth Birthday To Stevie Wonder Poem by Hebert Logerie

Happy Seventieth Birthday To Stevie Wonder

Happy 70th birthday to you, Stevie Wonder
You're amazingly talented. You're a wonder
I am writing for you this piece of poetry
Because you fight for liberty, equality
Fairness, freedom, justice, peace and dignity
Stevie, they call you a civil rights activist
They call me that too, but we're committed pacifists
We raise our voices and open wide our eyes
When our people are hurt. We use our cries
To protest, to fight for their rights to be alive
To be safe, to live like human beings, to thrive
Like anybody in the world. We are the world too
We are human too. And we love humanity too
Happy birthday brother Stevie. You're a great artist
So are Alicia Keys and others who love you dearly
I write this poem to say that the world loves you, Stevie
You have a good heart, a great model; you're one of us
This poem is for you because you're a great humanist
A great pianist and human being. You joined us on the bus
On our way to protest and to fight against injustice
Bigotry, racism, and discrimination. You're the best
I am writing to say that I love you too. You love the rest
Of humanity. You're a Hero just like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
You're a great fighter, a brother, an uncle. We are in awe
I'm writing to express my best wishes to you and your family
You are an inspiration and a model. We love you dearly, Stevie.
