Hardly Go Off Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Hardly Go Off

Rating: 5.0

“Take care of your self and mother too”
Father was on death bed and watched through
His eyes were wide open and staring
As he wanted to defy last time and daring

I could guess his time was about to be over
He was no more in position to hear
I just nodded head and acknowledged
I could hardly stop tears and managed

How much in fairness he brought us?
He had full confidence and trust
Even though hardly hand to mouth
He never failed to upheld the truth

He was in his eighties and I had made some correspondence
It was received in time to join the service and respond
I caught his hand and responded with tears
Now he was bit relieved sans fears

Those scenes hardly go off my mind
He was harsh but very soft and kind
He may teach me tables and make it by heart
He had thorough knowledge as an art

I remembered each tables
He was happy to see me learnt without problem
I turned my eyes and went in corner
He was breathing fast and end seemed sooner

Parents are always warm and affectionate and their warmth shall always radiate even from the beyond. A beautiful poem.
