Have You Ever Thought Poem by Amitava Sur

Have You Ever Thought

Rating: 5.0

Boats, ships and launches are merrily floating on it
We do yachting and cruising for our luxury, fun and play.
We extract mineral oils, coral, aqua marine
And sea fishes from it.

Now, by any chance
If that ocean walks down at your door’s end
Praying for a shelter for resting a little.
For sure, you all will start laughing at it.

But nobody feels the ocean’s pain,
That it may be vast and endless in shape
But not even a single inch in it
Is left for the ocean’s own use.

Ocean can never take a little rest
Always being undulating with it’s moving waves
Along with their aggression and deafening roars.
Maybe the ocean is so vast and unending
But having no space for it’s own.

This vast unending ocean is so generous
That it has sacrificed every bit of it
To keep the earth moving on it
And all the creatures to remain alive! !

Truly, the ocean is never at rest and assists the life on earth.

A unique thought! I have never thought from the perspective of an ocean! Yes, it is never granted even a minute's rest, always in eternal commotion and it has sacrificed its privacy and space for the umpteen marine creatures and live forms! Great write, Amitava!

never was on the ocean's shore. I like small lakes and wide Russian rivers. believe in your feelings.

I think few people reflect on the ocean with such consideration and concern. This is truly an inspiring poem, revealing the writer to be a sensitive, caring man. Very nicely done.

The restless ocean, never stops and always bites you when you're not expecting it to. LOvely poem.
