Heart Having Lost Its Anchor Poem by RoseAnn V. Shawiak

Heart Having Lost Its Anchor

Mind turning around, swiveling into time past, pictures spin-
ning into focus of all that we had, all moments spent together,
never thinking that they would one day be gone.

Now sacrifices we made back then are taking our souls through
loss as you are brought beyond the black curtains of death,
mind wavering in the darkness.

Nothing to grasp or hold onto, heart having lost its anchor
when losing you, my dear, there is no life left to continue
through the years like before, tears flowing instead of love
through this heart of mine.
