Helping The Poor And Needy Poem by Randy McClave

Helping The Poor And Needy

I see the poor and the needy on the street
Holding signs of desperation I do greet,
I see them old and young and hungry and tired
Sympathy and help for them is desperately required.
I always give them a prayer and change if I have it
I wish I could give them more that I truly admit,
Once I was told to pretend they are my sister or brother
That bit of advice was given to me by my mother.
Sadly, I see others ridiculing and/ or mocking them
Laughing at the poor and the needy because their life is grim,
They point and yell that their problems is their own fault
In their wounds they just love to rub the salt.
The Bible says there is Angels walking amongst us all
I wonder is that one seeking sympathy outside the mall,
Or could that be an Angel standing outside the store
That's saying that they are helpless or needy/ starving or poor.
I don't think Angels would be walking about in fine clothes
And I don't think their fragrance would be tantalizing the nose,
I say they might be the ones sitting or begging here and there
Maybe like in Sodom, checking if the residents do care.
I look at the people who are pointing fingers and calling names
Laziness and worthlessness at them is their claims,
I wonder if the accusers stand against abortion from pills or a knife
I also wonder if the accusers preached how they support life.
