Hidden Flowers Poem by Jim Yerman

For many years she thought herself a plant…
that refused to open to the sun.
She wondered what she could do to change…
if anything could be done…

And then one day she found the strength…
to escape the darkness of her gloom…
and allowed her hidden flower
to come to life…
to bloom.

Now her days are filled with laughter,
and she hopes when each day's done
everyone's hidden flower
will find its own way to the sun.
