His Calls Never Came Poem by Dr Anthony Onoja

His Calls Never Came

I sat muted close to my phone as ever
Expecting to hear from him as usual
what made him this sad with me?
Why have he choose to be silent towards me?
He was infuriated and never care for me
I caused it, I now know his pains
It was a cold night, he made all his moves
My heart went for it, but my body refused
He may be like the ones that came
I thought aloud, yes the ones that got my pot
but never remained to cook my meals of love
Even when he came with promises from Mars
I saw him a climate change, a change indeed! !
This is what I got for letting go an old friend
A long vacuum from Kalahari I now become
I thought we had a yesterday?
I still felt he will remember to say hello
to my egret soul, perhaps say a short goodbye
He never dial my number nor whisper my name
Such is what I got from been full of myself
Been careful not to marvel to same old tricks
His was peculiar, it came from the soul
He never stop coming after the looping years
Now I end him to save my fears
I end an old friend whom I took for a ride
Never to see his face again nor his voice
I hear you flee so far away beyond the
coast of Africa, somewhere in no where
I apologies my old friend,
please call again I miss you
I miss the long friendship we built in memories

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Sometimes in our pride we create an empty castle without its people nor its Queens, Princesses, Princes and Kings.. Cherish every now and then, especially old memories for they may never come by...Never takes an old friend for granted he may be the answers you seek and the old one to see the God in you and make you immortal for ever.
