Holiday! Poem by David Wood

The holiday brochures arrived
They hit the mat with a thud,
Already they make me feel revived
Now to weed out those that are dud.

Highlights of the Dordogne is one
With lovely French countryside,
Where you can have such great fun
Sipping wine both far and wide.

Sitting here with a glass of Chianti,
Italy springs readily to mind,
Where to go that takes my fancy
Where the weather is very kind.

The Italian Dolomites I'd have a ball
Though I'd be tempted to climb,
But I really don't want another fall
‘Cos I know I'm not in my prime.

There are so many to chose from!
Even the colosseums of Rome,
It all makes my brain kinda numb
Perhaps I should just stay at home….
