Homage To The Romantics Poem by Paul Brookes

Homage To The Romantics

Rating: 5.0

life graphs of ups and downs a chains of reason to capture man
to lose his very innocence
made mental madnesswith a circle of woven ice,
to freeze the fevered brain.

the lines are blurred at the ocean, shore and sky
wheresetsthe sun a russet rosy red, into a seamless sea;
with heavenly golden beam that shines from distant shores of time
to frame the hallowed memories.

a truer self from dreams may come, of total blackness or pure light
or struggle with ones better self in torpid bitter dreams.
a drop of silver water, silent falls, into a sunless cave,
where incongruous images sit in deep dead places
we dare not seek or dwell.

elastic spaces where time dissolves to a fluidity of thought
we skim the edge of sanity flirting with the abyss, careful not to fall
nor lingering there too long lest we lose our way.
there near where the sky and hill are stitched with moss green silken threads and inter-fused with cloud tis here The Romanticsresolutely dwell, upon the edge where starry skies do twine in eternity.

'a drop of silver water, silent falls, into a sunless cave, where incongruous images sit in deep dead places' a place time timeless to sit listen in silken darkness to infinite ages, a point stretching in mind light piercing across vast space cosmos, soul free may flight aspire through rock atom spaces into space to watch star birth
