Hope
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
Out of the depths of despair
Comes hope, dewy and smiling,
Cheerful in summoning my will
To work afresh
To gather my forces of creativity
And my strength of intelligence
To cajole my inner self
To be my taskmaster
Will I succeed in life's quest
For fame and fortune
And glory and gold
And money and might
I wonder afresh
And the echoing silence
Says with hope comes life's rewards
And the will to carry on.
