Hospital Visiting Poem by Micron

Hospital Visiting

Rating: 5.0

It’s visiting time but you don’t speak sleeping in the bed

Let her rest don’t disturb we were told so nothing is said

Strange machines are about and surround

Tubes from ceiling wall and ground

Others in the ward sit and happily chat

How I wish we could do once again that

We sit listening to the noisy constant snake

Feeding you oxygen and we wait for you to awake

Watching your chest cyclic rise and fall

Wondering what anyone can do to help at all

Your rasping breathing is sort of comforting to hear

Because means you are still fighting and near

Nothing can we do just only pray and wait

While stupid thoughts go though my head getting me in a state

Nurses in constant attendance and you still don’t stir

My time and existence for weeks have been again a blur

And still this continues with no progress or info to tell

For you’ve forbidden information to be given out which is hell

Regular drugs injected into a tube on your hand

No one will tell us what happening you I don’t understand

As visiting time heads towards its afternoon close

Your eyes open and our hope once again grows

I smile as you us accuse of missing visiting time and being late

Yes we were there all the time cos mum you’re my best mate
