How Can I show My Face? Poem by Nabakishore Dash

How Can I show My Face?

O' Lord, unsullied was the
mind you gifted when I
was born.
I stained the same with
indelible spots
by my own action.

Promised you to do something, but
did some thing else with
full knowledge and cognition.
No betterment did I bring, rather
deeply upset the
almost whole population.

Propagated
lies, not truth.
Fear, not courage.
Hate, not love.
Division, not unity.
Sycophancy, not honesty.
Vengeance, not forgiveness.
Violence, not peace.
Opacity, not transparency.

Power, position, name and fame
blinded me to a
very great extent.
Could not resist the
temptations that made
me fully corrupt.

Never paid attention
to your wish and
benevolent intent.
How can I show my face,
explain You
shameless aspects.

My actions never
promoted meliorism
for which I was sent.
With a soiled and spotted
mind, I am hesitant,
disappointed to confront.
