Rating: 5.0

HOW I WISH SOMETIMES/ I COULD ESCAPE FROM MYSELF

How I wish sometimes
I could escape from myself
And go far away from my own ambitions
And not think ever again
Of my lack of a name
And lack of reputation
And failure at greatness
And all else connected with such stuff-
How I wish sometimes
I could just be
As if I never dreamed to be a writer
Or dreamed to be anything
But just wanted to live and be me
Whatever that could mean
Like a tree a stone
A thing as it is
Just what it is as it is
Nothing more
Not having to be anything other
Than what it already is.

True talent like yours cannot be or live in a stone. For a stone has no feelings and you bubble over with them.
