How Silly Poem by Mike Snow

How Silly

Oh silly are we lovers,
with foolish pride to heed.
That we would lose what precious is,
on some trivial deed.
If only I had bit my tongue,
and spoken another tone.
Had thought about that at stake,
the future again alone.
We both have said the words,
that cannot now be unsaid.
The past sleights that were suffered,
press to fore instead.
Neither of us had the ken,
of nightmares past inflicted.
Words said were not aimed,
reactions not predicted.
We can live our life's, it's true,
without the other there.
Meet other hearts along the way,
in which to place our care.
But none will please in the way,
As when we had each there.
When you loved someone and let them go,
there will always be a part.
That whispers, 'What was it that you wanted,
and why didn't you fight for it heart? "
