Mike Snow Poems

1.

What does the word love
conjure in your mind?
Hearts, flowers, joy,
and does it make you blind?
...

What fragile bauble
is my heart.
So freely given and,
so quickly, broken apart.
...

3.

Grey on grey,
and darkness comes.
Fearful feelings suffocate,
no light is seen.
...

My thoughts howling round my head,
like the storm raging outside the window.
Will I end like the tree,
ripped and smashed from earthly anchor?
...

I could give you a flower,
Who’s beauty was never before seen.
But it would pale and die,
Next to the wonder of your being.
...

As we sit together, on
this still, warm, mystical, summer night,
warm and soft, how you women are.
Unfortunately, it is often true for you,
...

Oh silly are we lovers,
with foolish pride to heed.
That we would lose what precious is,
on some trivial deed.
...

She is a light at the end of the tunnel.
Something hoped for to reach and bathe in,
but forever just out of reach for us normal mortals.
Now I am near the light and see
...

I have never asked much,
From any in this life.
Not from friend, lover,
Enemy or wife.
...

Life has been hard,
with many downs.
But none so low,
As I`m feeling now.
...

Summers gone,
but it didn`t last.
Just like our love,
I guess it`s in the past.
...

I saw you through my open window,
as you ran off into your dreams.
Leaving the golden palace,
with it`s smiling Kings and Queens.
...

13.

My love lies near
in fullfilled sleep.
The fragrance of our lust,
is in the air,
...

I`ve never been too much
for women or faith,
and all I`ve ever asked,
is to be left alone
...

15.

Talk softly as you pass me,
tread not heavy upon the floor.
But, stare into the fixed horizon
for.
...

If it`s true we can change the future,
can we not change the past?
And if cicumstances altered,
would your feelings really last?
...

I have screamed your name many times,
In the dark lonely hours of my life.
But never once did you answer,
How could you?
...

Words are very powerful tools,
they are the means to many different ends.
I like the spoken word because you can give it strength
and meaning above its worth with an inflection or look.
...

She is fire,
when I am freezing.
She is sunshine,
at my midnight.
...

We fell in love,
as you so often do.
And it hurts now to think,
about the kisses I am missing.
...

Mike Snow Biography

Words are very powerful tools, they are the means to many different ends. I like the spoken word because you can give it strength and meaning above its worth with an inflection or look. Equally, the kindest written phrase can bring anger or hatred when used or received with the wrong intent. When I write, I try to use the available words to their utmost, but in the end, it is the reader that is the one who decides the meaning and intent, and how relevant it is to them. I grew up in a very loving working class home. After serving an apprenticship as a Stonemason, I joined the British Army. After a total of 18 years service I decided to try 'civi street'. It was a big shock. I have always written, right from when I could hold a pencil and make sense of what I was writing. Most of my work comes from experiences in the Army or as a BiPolar sufferer. I write mainly for myself but have discovered that some of my 'work', hits a chord with others. Hence my placing the poems here.)

Love

What does the word love
conjure in your mind?
Hearts, flowers, joy,
and does it make you blind?

Gentle walks, arm in arm,
gazing into their eyes.
But love has a darker side,
built upon hurt and lies.

For every rosey sunny day,
and tender loving kiss.
There is a blacker side.
then anyone could wish.

Love is built upon a trust
that at the start, is complete.
But when this trust is broken,
love lies shattered, at your feet.
