Humber Connexions R.I.P. Poem by Paul Butters

Humber Connexions R.I.P.

Like Chinese dynasties they rise and fall,
Come and go,
Rise and fall:
Humberside Careers Service,
(Humberside County Council) ,
The Humberside Partnership,
And Humber Connexions –
Since 1974 –
All R.I.P.

Each gave me a living, over twenty-five years.
Yes I have batted
For Humberside.

They’ve all gone local:
Hull, Grimsby, Scunthorpe, and Goole...
North East Lincolnshire (that’s Grimsby!) for me...
No phones or computers
For now.
New offices perhaps,
New bosses in black suits.
All change!
What goes around comes around they say.
This endless cycle of death and life.
For now –
Humber Connexions
R.I.P.

Actually I retired (early) last year and get my pension from The East Riding Fund (don't ask why) . Don Newton who is about 82 now gets HIS pension from there too. So, not Personally affected but still empathise with current staff.
